Cedar Hill has made a conscious decision to preserve natural and open spaces in parallel with growth and economic development.  Therefore, all net proceeds from this year's event will be donated to the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center for educational programming.

Educational programming is available for grades Pre-K through 12th.  There are two programs that the Audubon Center offers, Eco-Investigations and an Audubon Conservation Workshop.  The Audubon Eco-Investigations program focuses on the ecology and habitat of the Canyon, scientific observation and identification skills, and stewarship of natural resources.  The Audubon Conservation Workshop program focuses on the unique ecosystem of southwest Dallas County.  Students learn about ecology, natural resource stewardship and participate in an on-site conservation project.  All lessons can be customized to address specific student expectations and/or benchmarks.

Dogwood Canyon is part of the White Rock Escarpment and includes the conservation of 280 acres of critical habitat.  The Canyon, located at 1206 W. FM 1382 in Cedar Hill, Texas, features an education center, interpretive trails, academic programs, conservation workshops and facility rental space which serves school children, their familiies and the community.

Other exciting and rewarding ways to participate with Audubon Center is to volunteer.  Volunteers work with Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center to further their mission and to conserve and restore natural ecosystems.  Some of the many ways you can volunteer include: interpretive volunteers, school program volunteers, "Fourth Saturday" trail building and habitat management, Administratively, Animal Care and Special Events.  If you would like more information on volunteering with Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center, you can email jcollins@audubon.org.
